It takes a community to raise children and it took a community to build Howe’s park and 11-acre Park, over 30 years ago. Spring through fall, you will hear the sounds of children and families enjoying the park and many of its recreational activities. Children laugh and giggle while playing on the colorful modern playground equipment furnished by the FRED Ethyl Grant. Families enjoy birthday parties and family reunions under the shelter while playing a game of rolle bolle on the court or horse shoes at the pit. Enjoy the great American pastime watching the children playing baseball at the four baseball/softball diamonds.

Youth sports are a community cornerstone. Health and wellness is important to childhood growth.  A variety of organized sports activities for children of all ages are available.

Soccer leagues are available for all children pre-school (age four) to fifth grade every spring and fall. League play is organized and directed by volunteers. League play is for six weeks.  Coaching assistance, encouragement, and support is provided to all children participating in the program. Registration fees $25 per child max of $50 per family and registration forms are distributed through Annawan schools.  More information can be found at annawanyouthsports7.wixsite.com/home

Summer little league baseball and softball programs for aspiring athletes or those that just want to have fun. Leagues are available for children who have completed kindergarten through 9th grade. Western Bureau County League play is organized and directed by volunteers in the spring and registration forms are distributed through the Annawan schools. Coaching assistance, encouragement, and support is provided to all children participating in the program. Season begins end of May through July. Registration fees: $25 per child, but not to exceed $50 per family. annawanyouthsports7.wixsite.com/home
